Original paintings · Georgetown, Kentucky
Painted in chaos. Finished in balance.
I painted these in Chicago with no guardrails. It was years of experimenting with color, texture and maximalism, until it all started to look like one body of work. Now they’re home in Kentucky. Every piece is one of one, framed and ready to hang.
The Kentucky edition
Prototypes: For Feeling ______ is what I call my first finished body of work. A few years into this painting journey, after I got over the imposter syndrome that all artists face, I was left with a nagging concern that my body of work didn’t have a cohesive identity. But then, it dawned on me that looking at the paintings as a collection showed a reflection of me nonetheless: the colors chosen, the chaotic maximalism, the expressionism. I already knew these ideas were the start of something bigger that I intended on expanding and exploring in depth, so I labeled them prototypes. Think of this collection as a hub, and each piece as a spoke I’ll follow into a full series.
Why the blank. Looking back, each piece reminds me of the state of mind I was in when I painted it. Some days I was angry, some happy, some stressed. I didn’t paint about those feelings; but how I felt probably influenced the colors and brushstrokes. The blank is for the viewer to fill in their own emotions. My hope is that a painting does what a familiar scent does and takes you back somewhere. (Also, artists give shows quirky titles, and I thought this one was damn clever.)
Every piece is one of one. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Tap a painting to see it larger.
I’m an abstract and mixed-media painter. I grew up in Stamping Ground, six miles west of Georgetown, and after eleven years in Chicago I’m back home where both sides of my family come from.
Chicago is where I dove into painting, and it was a different life: experimentation, freedom, and chaos. That's the thread running through most of my work. What I’m chasing inside it is equilibrium. It's maximalism with a focus on harmony.
Before painting, I spent nearly two decades behind the chair as a hairdresser and salon manager. The sweeping, hand-painted balayage technique I mastered on hair is the one I’m most confident with on canvas, and it’s the catalyst for the Balayage series.
I have many more pieces to show you, and if you join the mailing list, you'll be the first to know about new works and availability before I post them online. These pieces are all for sale. Available as high quality prints too!

In Chicago I had THE coolest former storefront apartment. There, I was painting walls, not just canvases. It was like designing wallpaper, or having my own private mural to energize my space every day. I'm passionate about bringing that .
